Is it possible that the war is over? -- by Eric Janzen

When I saw the figure he was jumping the line
and hopping over trenches,
rolling up razor wire,
and, of all things, laughing.

Wide eyed, I began to wonder
Is it possible that the war is over?
His eyes found me then
he smiled
he grinned,
then turned to the far flung
wandering hosts
spread his arms
and in a voice strong enough
to shame the powerful
he proclaimed

Fear No Evil.

Sun bleached sand
caressed by the rhythm
of calm ocean waves
A small smile
drooping eyes
in a dozing face
and the comforting thought
that the dead will one day
get up out of their graves.

I'm killing the instinct
to run for cover,
for me,
the war
is over.

Eric,

I just read this again, copied it and sent it to a friend who is being harassed by a Hell's Angel in training. Thank you.
